Dirty South: A Playlist to Have With Biscuits and Gravy

The South is a┬áplace where the sweet tea flows freely and football is the religion. Back dirt roads and the best fried everything cuisine you can find, The South holds a special place in my heart. While my mom’s side of the family is from Colombia, South America my dad’s side hails from the land of Elvis and BB King. Summers were spent knee deep in the creeks behind my grandparents house and hearing about the history of the Confederacy and the Great War that had brothers fighting against each other.

While The South has past marked with slavery, segregation, and still overcomes poverty today you can’t deny that the birth place of American Rock and Roll, Blues, and Jazz sings melodies that touch your soul. From New Orleans to Memphis, the sounds of the South are raw, dirty, and filled with soul.
