Smoky Mountain Adventures, Dolly Parton, Pigeon Forge Dinner Show

Dolly’s New Dinner Show, Smoky Mountain Adventures

There is a new show in town, ladies and gentlemen! So back your bags, head over to Pigeon Forge, and be ready to see Dolly Parton’s Smoky Mountain Adventures. You are in for a great time filled with family fun and memories you will keep forever.

If anyone has perfected the dinner show experience it is Dolly Parton. Her shows are top notch entertainment and themed from the moment you step out of your car. The food is amazing too, so when we decided to meet some friends at Dolly’s new show I knew we were in for a great time.

We picked up our tickets to Dolly Parton’s Smoky Mountain Adventures earlier in the day since we had purchased a combo with the Ripley’s Aquarium. We were super excited when we drove up because the building is HUUUUGE.

Dolly Parton’s Smoky Mountain Adventures doesn’t have a pre-show like Dixie Stampede does, but we still recommend getting there 50 min before showtime so you can fully experience Bass Mercantile. Fashioned after one of the many general stores in the area around 1939 (which is when the show takes place) you will be able to stop by the Canteen for drinks/snacks and shop around the Dry Goods Gift Shop.

The Bass Mercantile experience is also where little ones can experience the Mountain Makeovers, making them part of the shows cast! While you can stop by the gift shop after the show, keep in mind that you are doing so with the 700+ other people that also just left the show. Save yourself some of the hassle and get your goodies before hand, trust me!

Before you can finish your old fashion rootbeer float and wrap up your game of checkers it is time to find your seats – Will you be rooting for the Owens family or the Parton family? Just like at Dixie, there is no bad seat in the house! This show however seems a little more intimate. Like a reverse TARDIS, the Smoky Mountain Adventures theater looks massive on the outside but once inside it is far more quaint.

Like anything else we do, Tim and Sibling Hames were big fans of the food! The soup is the same amazing soup from Dixie Stampede which made our fellow Owens family members sitting next to us really happy! Personally, I am a big fan of the peach turnover, because sweets! Bonus points? You get a fork at this show. As your server brought our meal, it was hard to eat with all of the acrobatics happening on stage!

The story line is loosely based on the story of how Dolly’s parents met before she was born which means you won’t be seeing little Dolly on the stage. You will see her dad’s family, the Partons, and her mom’s family, the Owens, compete in the Great Smoky Mountain Family Contest of 1939 to see who will have bragging rights as the champs.

Think Cirque meets Dolly Parton’s family history and you’ll get a good idea of what to expect! But it isn’t just that. Of all the Dolly dinner shows, this one has the most of her songs. Any true Dolly Parton fan will want to watch the show as she narrates the story with the resident story teller Apple Jack.
